Who this list is for

This list is for travelers who want a comfortable, well-reviewed base in Bangkok without paying for full-service luxury. It suits couples and pairs of friends on a short city break, first-timers who want a short list instead of hundreds of search results, and repeat visitors comparing Bangkok budget hotels by neighborhood. If you want a pool villa, a riverside resort or a hotel from a particular loyalty program, start somewhere else.

We define value as a sensible balance of location, guest feedback and included basics. Price matters, but it is only one part of the picture with Bangkok affordable hotels, and we leave live prices to the comparison table on this page.

How we picked

We started from Agoda partner search data retrieved on October 6, 2026. The search was for two adults staying two nights, checking in on November 6, 2026 and out on November 8, 2026. The snapshot returned eight hotels, which we ranked against each other by price and by review score without quoting any amounts.

Every hotel in the snapshot showed breakfast included and free Wi-Fi for the searched stay, so those basics did not separate the field. Instead, we compared four things:

  • Distance from the city center, as reported in the snapshot.
  • Review score and review volume at lookup time, since a strong score from thousands of guests is more reliable than one from a few hundred.
  • Each hotel’s price position within the snapshot.
  • Property details such as opening year, last renovation, room count, and check-in and check-out times.

Snapshots go out of date quickly. Availability, room types and prices can change after the fetch date, so treat this as a short list and confirm the details before you book.

Hotel notes

Sunday Harbour View Sukhumvit 50 Hotel

Why it made the list: it had the lowest price position in our snapshot, so it is the obvious first look if you want Bangkok cheap hotels in Sukhumvit. The hotel opened in 2016, lists a 2025 renovation and has 171 rooms. The front desk offers express check-in and check-out, luggage storage and help booking tours, and there is parking for guests who drive. You can also order room service.

Suitable for: travelers focused on price who mainly need a clean place to sleep and don’t mind a short commute.

Caveats: it is about 5.8 km from the city center, in the Phra Khanong area of Khlong Toei district. At lookup time it had a 3.5-star rating and a 7.7 review score from 2,612 reviews, which put it near the bottom of this set on review score. Smoking is allowed only in designated areas.

Marigold Sukhumvit

Why it made the list: it had the second-lowest price position in our snapshot and one of the stronger review records. At lookup time it had a 4.5-star rating and an 8.4 review score from 5,364 reviews. It is a smaller hotel with 75 rooms, opened in 2012 and last renovated in 2016. You can arrange airport transportation before check-in, and the hotel offers a shuttle, concierge service and free parking.

Suitable for: travelers who want a quieter, smaller hotel and plan to use transfers or the hotel shuttle rather than walk to the sights.

Caveats: it is on Sukhumvit 107, about 11.2 km from the city center, which makes it the farthest hotel in the snapshot. Allow travel time for every trip into town. Its last listed renovation is also older than at several other hotels here.

The Bless Hotel & Residence

Why it made the list: it pairs a central Sukhumvit location with a large number of reviews. The hotel is on Sukhumvit Soi 33, about 1.7 km from the city center. At lookup time it had a 4-star rating and an 8.5 review score from 12,329 reviews. It opened in 2010, lists a 2023 renovation and has 102 rooms. Laundry and dry cleaning are available, along with concierge service and airport transportation you can arrange in advance.

Suitable for: first-time visitors, and longer stays where laundry service and a central base matter more than the lowest price.

Caveats: it was mid-pack on price in the snapshot, so it is not the lowest-cost pick. Confirm what is included in the room you actually book.

Asia Hotel Bangkok

Why it made the list: it is a large, long-running hotel with a very long review history. At lookup time it had a 4-star rating and an 8.3 review score from 57,739 reviews, by far the most reviews in this set. It is on Phayathai Road, about 2.9 km from the city center, and has 598 rooms, 24-hour room service, laundry and free parking.

Suitable for: travelers who like a big, predictable hotel, including groups who want several rooms in one place.

Caveats: the hotel opened in 1967 and the snapshot lists no renovation year, so room condition may vary. Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out at 11:30 AM, which is a little less flexible than at most others here.

Mercure Bangkok Makkasan

Why it made the list: it is the closest hotel to the city center in the snapshot, at about 0.8 km, and it belongs to Accor Hotels. At lookup time it had a 4-star rating and an 8.4 review score from 2,387 reviews. It opened in 2016, has 174 rooms, and offers taxi and shuttle services, express check-in and check-out, and airport transportation you can arrange before arrival.

Suitable for: short trips where less commuting matters most, and travelers who prefer a known chain.

Caveats: it was near the top of the snapshot on price, and no renovation year is listed.

ASAI Bangkok Chinatown

Why it made the list: it had some of the strongest guest feedback in the set. At lookup time it had a 3-star rating and a 9.0 review score from 8,908 reviews. Run by Dusit Hotels and Resorts, it opened in 2020 and has 224 rooms on Charoen Krung Road in Pom Prap, about 4.9 km from the city center.

Suitable for: travelers who want to stay in Chinatown for the food and street life and are happy with a compact, modern room.

Caveats: it had the highest price position in this snapshot, and its 3-star rating at lookup time suggests fewer facilities than the 4-star options. Check-in is at 3:00 PM, and it is worth confirming the smoking policy if that matters to you.

Also in the snapshot

Palette Hi Hotel Bangkok and Hotel Royal Bangkok were also in the snapshot. Palette Hi is about 1.4 km from the center and sat mid-pack on price. Hotel Royal Bangkok had the top review score in the set at lookup time, but from a much smaller number of reviews. The snapshot had fewer property details for both, so we left them out of the main notes.

How to choose

Start with where you will spend your days, then match a hotel to it:

  • For a central base and shorter trips around the city: Mercure Bangkok Makkasan or The Bless Hotel & Residence.
  • For the lowest price positions in this set: Sunday Harbour View Sukhumvit 50 Hotel, then Marigold Sukhumvit.
  • For Chinatown and strong guest feedback: ASAI Bangkok Chinatown.
  • For a large, established hotel with round-the-clock room service: Asia Hotel Bangkok.

Next, weigh distance against price. A hotel farther out can look attractive in a Bangkok hotels price comparison but add taxi or train time every day. On a two-night trip that matters less; over a week it adds up. Finally, read recent reviews instead of relying on the overall score, and look for comments on cleanliness, noise and air conditioning. For most visitors, the best Bangkok value hotels are the ones that match their plans, not just the ones with the lowest price.

Booking checklist

  • Free cancellation: check whether your rate allows free cancellation, and note the exact deadline in the hotel’s local time.
  • Taxes and fees: before you pay, check whether the total shown includes taxes and service charges, and whether anything is collected at the hotel.
  • Room type: the snapshot did not record a room type, so confirm the bed setup (one double or two singles), the room size and whether there is a window before you book.
  • Breakfast and Wi-Fi: the snapshot showed both included, but confirm they apply to the exact rate you choose.
  • Check-in and check-out times: most hotels here check in at 2:00 PM and check out at 12:00 PM, but Asia Hotel Bangkok and ASAI Bangkok Chinatown differ. If you land in the morning, request early check-in ahead of time.
  • Occupancy: make sure the booking lists two adults if two people are staying.
