For the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP), the practical answer for international fans is to stay in Kuala Lumpur and travel south to the Petronas Sepang International Circuit on race days. Choose M Resort & Hotel Kuala Lumpur or Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur for a full-service base with breakfast, or Komune Living and Sleeping Lion Suites if you want to keep costs down. If you don’t mind staying well outside the centre, you can also consider the two Putrajaya hotels on our list.
Who this list is for
This guide is for fans going to the Malaysian round of the MotoGP World Championship who want a city base rather than a room beside the track. It suits couples and pairs of friends travelling together. It also suits first-time visitors who want restaurants and transport options after the day’s sessions, and anyone flying into KLIA who wants a simple plan for the race weekend. If you need to walk to the circuit gates, this is not that list: these Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) Kuala Lumpur hotels are all in or around the city.
How we picked these hotels
We checked Agoda partner search data on 14 October 2026 for a two-night stay covering the race weekend, for two adults. From those results we kept hotels rated 3-star or higher with large review volumes and strong guest scores. We then compared distance from the city centre, whether breakfast was included in the offer, free Wi-Fi, and how each hotel ranked against the others on price, without quoting amounts. Prices and availability move fast before a major race, so use the live table on this page for current rates.
Why rooms sell out on race weekend
Many international fans stay in Kuala Lumpur for the race weekend, so demand piles onto exactly the same nights. Well-reviewed hotels with breakfast, flexible cancellation and easy transport tend to fill first, which is why this list leans on those features. Even at large hotels, the specific room type you want can sell out well before the hotel does.
The stay pattern matters too. Our search covered two nights, with checkout on the final day of the event. If you fly home that evening or later, add a night now; extending a stay on a sold-out weekend is harder than booking it upfront.
Where to stay for the Sepang circuit
The Petronas Sepang International Circuit is in Sepang, about 60 km south of central Kuala Lumpur and close to KLIA. That leaves three realistic types of base:
- Central Kuala Lumpur. Sleeping Lion Suites (1.7 km from the city centre), Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur (1.8 km) and Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur (about 3 km) keep you close to the city for evenings, and you make the trip south to Sepang each race day.
- Outer Kuala Lumpur. Komune Living (4.8 km), M Resort & Hotel Kuala Lumpur (6.2 km) and One World Hotel (9.2 km) sit further out, so factor in taxi time for evenings in the city.
- Putrajaya. The Everly Putrajaya Hotel (22.5 km from the city centre) and Dorsett Putrajaya (24.8 km) suit travellers who don’t mind staying well outside the city centre. Dorsett Putrajaya was a 5-star hotel at lookup time with breakfast included. The Everly had the largest review volume on our list. Check the driving route and time to Sepang yourself before you commit.
Hotel notes
M Resort & Hotel Kuala Lumpur
At lookup time this 5-star hotel had the highest guest score in our set, 9.1 from 16,677 reviews, and breakfast was included in the offer we checked. It is about 6.2 km from the city centre.
- Best for: couples who want a polished place to recover between long days at the circuit.
- Caveat: it sat in the upper half of our list on price, and it is outside the centre, so allow time for taxis each evening.
Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur
At lookup time this 5-star hotel scored 8.8 from 40,196 reviews, included breakfast, and ranked in the lower half of our list on price. It has 650 rooms. Its front desk lists ticket services and tours alongside concierge, luggage storage and taxi help, which is handy on an event weekend.
- Best for: first-time visitors who want a central, full-service hotel with practical support.
- Caveat: the hotel opened in 1994 and was renovated in 2015, so check recent guest photos of the exact room type you book.
Sleeping Lion Suites
At lookup time it was a 3-star hotel with a 9.0 guest score from 45,745 reviews, and it ranked among the two most budget-friendly options in our set. At 1.7 km from the city centre, it is the most central hotel on this list.
- Best for: friends sharing a trip who will spend their days at the circuit and their evenings in the city.
- Caveat: breakfast was not included in the offer we checked, and it is the simpler end of this shortlist compared with the full-service hotels.
Komune Living
Komune Living was the most budget-friendly hotel in our set at lookup time, with breakfast included and an 8.7 guest score from 35,997 reviews. It opened in 2019 and has 648 rooms and a laundromat. Check-in starts at 2 p.m., earlier than at the other hotels that list a time.
- Best for: budget-conscious fans, and anyone who wants to wash race-day clothes before the flight home.
- Caveat: it is about 4.8 km from the city centre. The hotel lists shuttle amenities for excursions, but confirm directly whether a shuttle can be arranged on race days rather than assuming it.
Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur
At lookup time this 4-star hotel had an 8.6 guest score from 28,652 reviews, included breakfast, and sat mid-pack on price. It is on Jalan Sultan Ismail, about 1.8 km from the city centre. Airport transportation can be arranged before check-in, which is useful because the circuit is near KLIA. Guests arriving by car get complimentary parking, a plus if you plan to drive to Sepang.
- Best for: fans who want a central address and a simple airport arrival.
- Caveat: its guest score was the lowest of the eight at lookup time, and the hotel does not list an opening or renovation year.
One World Hotel
At lookup time this 5-star hotel scored 8.9 from 27,934 reviews, with breakfast included. The front desk offers airport transfers, taxi, car hire and shuttle services, plus express check-in and check-out, which helps on a tight race-day schedule.
- Best for: travellers who want the hotel to handle transport, in a large property with 452 rooms.
- Caveat: it was the highest-priced hotel in our set at lookup time and sits about 9.2 km from the city centre, so it makes most sense if you will use those services.
How to choose
- Closest to the city centre: Sleeping Lion Suites or Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
- Strongest guest feedback: M Resort & Hotel Kuala Lumpur, followed by Sleeping Lion Suites, based on scores at lookup time.
- Budget first: Komune Living, then Sleeping Lion Suites, based on the price order at lookup time.
- Transport support: One World Hotel for transfers and car hire, Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur for pre-arranged airport transport, and Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur for its ticket and tour desk.
- Further out: the Putrajaya pair, once you have checked the route to Sepang.
When to book
Book as soon as your race tickets are confirmed. Many fans arrive for the same nights, so Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) hotels with breakfast and free cancellation tend to disappear first. Rates can also change quickly as the race approaches. We checked these hotels close to the event, so treat availability as tight and check the live table before deciding.
Race weekend booking checklist
- Free cancellation: pick a refundable rate and note the exact cancellation deadline in case your race plans or flights change.
- Taxes and fees: compare the final total with taxes and service charges included at the last booking step, not the headline rate.
- Room type: confirm two separate beds if friends are sharing, and check that the room you pay for matches the one shown in search results.
- Breakfast: check whether breakfast is in your rate, and ask what is available if you leave early for the circuit.
- Checkout and luggage: checkout is at noon at the hotels that publish times. On the final race day, ask about luggage storage so you can head to Sepang without your bags.
- Getting to Sepang: the circuit is about 60 km south of central Kuala Lumpur. Arrange transport there and back before you arrive, and allow extra time after the race.
- Names and IDs: make sure each guest name matches the passport or ID you will show at check-in.
