If you’re choosing among Chiang Mai hotels for couples, start with the five city hotels below, all between 2.2 and 2.7 km from the city centre. Pick U Nimman Chiang Mai for a top-end stay or Hotel MAYU Chiang Mai for value. Consider Panviman Chiangmai Spa Resort only if you want a quiet resort and don’t mind being 20.6 km out of town.

Who this list is for

This guide is for two adults planning a short Chiang Mai break who want a comfortable, well-located base. It suits couples who like to walk out for coffee or dinner, and pairs weighing a city hotel against a quieter resort.

A good Chiang Mai couples hotel doesn’t need to be a honeymoon suite. If you searched for a Chiang Mai romantic hotel or an adults-only property, note that our data doesn’t flag either feature, so we haven’t labelled any hotel that way.

How we picked

Our Chiang Mai hotel recommendations come from an Agoda partner search we ran on October 21, 2026, for a two-night stay from November 21 to November 23, 2026, for two adults. We compared guest review scores and review counts as shown at lookup time, distance from the city centre, breakfast and free Wi-Fi, check-in times, and each hotel’s price position relative to the others.

Every hotel in the search was rated 3-star or higher. One limit is worth stating plainly: the review scores shown at lookup time were overall guest scores, not a couples-only breakdown. Prices change often, so we leave them to the hotel table on this page.

Nimman, Old City or Riverside: which area fits a couple

Couples usually weigh three bases:

  • Nimman is the café, shopping and nightlife district, easy for strolling out to dinner.
  • Old City is the historic centre inside the old walls, suited to seeing temples on foot.
  • Riverside tends to be calmer for slow evenings, though nights out may mean a taxi.

Four of the six hotels are on the Nimman and Suthep side, going by their address or name; Hotel MAYU lists Chang Phuek in its address, and Panviman is a resort well outside the city. None of the hotels in our search listed an Old City or Riverside address, so if staying inside the walls or by the river matters most, compare those areas separately.

The shortlist: six hotels for couples

U Nimman Chiang Mai

At lookup time, U Nimman scored 9.2 from 13,093 reviews, the highest score in our search. It was listed as a 5-star hotel at lookup time. Its address is on Nimmanhaemin Road itself, 2.2 km from the city centre. The offer we found included breakfast and free Wi-Fi, and the hotel can arrange airport transport before you arrive.

Suits: couples who want a polished base right in Nimman and are happy to pay more for it.

Keep in mind: it was the highest-priced hotel in our search, and with 147 rooms it is a sizeable hotel rather than an intimate boutique stay.

Hotel MAYU Chiang Mai

At lookup time, Hotel MAYU scored 9.1 from 9,969 reviews, the second-highest score in our search, and it was also the lowest-priced of the eight hotels we compared. It has 66 rooms, sits 2.4 km from the city centre, and its Agoda description mentions express check-in and check-out, laundry service and free parking. The offer included breakfast.

Suits: couples who want to keep costs down without giving up breakfast.

Keep in mind: it was listed as a 3.5-star hotel at lookup time, the lowest star class of the six here, so check the facility list if on-site extras matter to you. Its address is in Chang Phuek, not Nimman.

Moose Hotel Nimman

At lookup time, Moose Hotel Nimman scored 9.1 from 6,895 reviews, level with Hotel MAYU. It was listed as a 4-star hotel at lookup time. It sat in the middle of our search on price and is 2.3 km from the city centre, with breakfast and free Wi-Fi included in the offer we saw.

Suits: couples who want a middle-ground option between the value and top-end picks.

Keep in mind: at lookup time it had the smallest review count of the six, and our data didn’t include its street address or check-in time, so confirm both on the property page before booking.

Eastin Tan Hotel Chiang Mai

At lookup time, Eastin Tan scored 9.0 from 8,263 reviews and was listed as a 4-star hotel. Its address is 171 Huay Kaew Road in Suthep, 2.4 km from the city centre, and it belongs to Absolute Resort & Hotels, the same chain as U Nimman. Airport transport can be arranged before arrival, and the offer included breakfast and free Wi-Fi.

Suits: couples who like a chain-run hotel and want an upper-middle option priced below U Nimman.

Keep in mind: it opened in 2014 and our data lists its latest renovation in the same year, so look at recent guest photos if room condition matters to you.

Travelodge Nimman

At lookup time, Travelodge Nimman scored 9.0 from 13,011 reviews, one of the two largest review counts on this list. It was listed as a 4-star hotel at lookup time. It was the third-lowest priced of the eight hotels in our search and sits 2.7 km from the city centre, the farthest of the five city picks here. Breakfast and free Wi-Fi were included in the offer.

Suits: couples who want a lower-priced choice on the Nimman side.

Keep in mind: our data didn’t include its street address or check-in time, so check the map and the property page before you book.

Panviman Chiangmai Spa Resort

At lookup time, Panviman was listed as a 4.5-star resort with a score of 8.8 from 9,304 reviews. It is the only resort-type property on this list, with 58 rooms, and it was renovated in 2024. It can arrange airport transport, taxis and shuttles, and the offer included breakfast and free Wi-Fi.

Suits: couples treating the trip as a retreat rather than a city break.

Keep in mind: it is 20.6 km from the city centre, so evenings in Nimman or the Old City need planned transport. Check-in is 3:00 PM, and it sat in the upper half of our search on price.

Value pick vs splurge pick

If value comes first, Hotel MAYU Chiang Mai is the pick: it was the lowest-priced hotel in our search and had the second-highest review score at lookup time. Among the six here, Travelodge Nimman is the next lowest-priced choice.

For a splurge, U Nimman Chiang Mai was the highest-priced hotel in our search and also had the top review score at lookup time. Moose Hotel Nimman and Eastin Tan Hotel Chiang Mai sit in the middle of the price range.

How to choose

All six nice hotels in Chiang Mai on this list included breakfast and free Wi-Fi in our search, so the real choice comes down to location, price and timing.

  • You want the Nimman scene: U Nimman Chiang Mai has a Nimmanhaemin Road address, while Moose Hotel Nimman and Travelodge Nimman carry the Nimman name, so confirm their exact spot on the map.
  • You’re watching the budget: start with Hotel MAYU Chiang Mai, then Travelodge Nimman.
  • You want quiet and a resort feel: Panviman Chiangmai Spa Resort, as long as the 20.6 km distance works for you.
  • You land in the evening: U Nimman, Hotel MAYU and Eastin Tan list a 2:00 PM check-in; add your expected arrival time to the booking so the hotel knows to expect you.

Booking checklist for couples

Before you pay, run through these points:

  • Free cancellation: check whether your rate is refundable and note the exact deadline, since terms can differ between rooms and rates at the same hotel.
  • Taxes and fees: confirm whether the total includes taxes and service charges before comparing hotels.
  • Room and bed type: our data didn’t list room types, so choose a room that clearly states a double or king bed. If only twin beds are shown, pick another room or confirm a bed request with the hotel.
  • Breakfast for two: every offer in our search included breakfast, but make sure the rate you choose covers both guests.
  • Check-in and check-out: most listed times here are 2:00 PM check-in and 12:00 PM check-out, with a 3:00 PM check-in at Panviman.
