For value in Fukuoka, stay on the Tenjin side of the city. Book HOTEL MYSTAYS Fukuoka Tenjin Minami as an all-round pick, or APA Hotel Fukuoka-Watanabedori to stay near the lower end of our search’s price order. If guest reviews matter most, look at THE KNOT FUKUOKA Tenjin, and for a Nakasu base pick THE LIVELY FUKUOKA HAKATA; all six hotels below are 3-star or higher with free Wi-Fi, so your choice comes down to area, breakfast and check-out time.

Who this list is for

This guide is for travelers who want a dependable hotel in central Fukuoka rather than the cheapest bed in town. It suits couples and friends traveling together best, because we searched for two adults sharing a room. Solo travelers and business visitors on a short trip can use the same approach. We did not include capsule hotels or hostels. If you are comparing Fukuoka cheap hotels only on the lowest rate, search for those separately.

How we picked Fukuoka’s value hotels

We used Agoda partner search data looked up on October 20, 2026. The search was for a two-night stay from November 20 to November 22, 2026, for two adults, and it returned eight hotels. Our rule for value was simple: strong guest feedback for the hotel’s class plus a reasonable place in the search’s price order, not just the lowest rate. We then checked each hotel’s breakfast offer, free Wi-Fi, distance to the city centre as listed by Agoda, street address, and check-in and check-out times.

Two hotels from that search did not make the list. HOTEL LiVEMAX Fukuoka Tenjin WEST came first in price order but had the lowest review score of the eight at lookup time. Plaza Hotel Premier belongs to the same OneFive Hotels group as THE KNOT FUKUOKA Tenjin and sits in the same Daimyo neighbourhood. Its offer did not include breakfast, and its check-out is earlier, at 10:00 AM.

Tenjin, Nakasu or Hakata: which base gives the most for the money

Most of the value in our search was on the Tenjin side. Four of the six picks have Chuo-ku addresses, in Haruyoshi, Kiyokawa, Tenjin and Daimyo. They are between 0.3 km and 1.4 km from the city centre by Agoda’s measure, and three of the four included breakfast in the offer we saw.

In Nakasu, the pick is THE LIVELY FUKUOKA HAKATA, 0.6 km from the city centre. Its name includes Hakata, but its address is in Nakasu, so don’t book it expecting to step straight out at Hakata Station.

On the Hakata side, APA Hotel & Resort Hakata Ekihigashi has the area in its name. Our data has no street address for it, and it came last of the eight in price order. Unless an early train or a Hakata-based plan shapes your trip, the Tenjin-side hotels offered more choice on these dates.

The shortlist: six Fukuoka value hotels

The hotels are listed in order of our overall value judgment. Each note gives the hotel’s place in the search’s price order, from first (lowest) to eighth (highest).

HOTEL MYSTAYS Fukuoka Tenjin Minami

Why we picked it: at lookup time it was listed as a 4-star hotel with a review score of 8.1 from 5,081 reviews, yet it was only third in price order. Its Haruyoshi address is 0.3 km from the city centre, the closest of the eight hotels we checked, and the offer we saw included breakfast. The 177-room hotel opened in 2008 and was renovated in 2025. It has an on-site laundromat plus dry cleaning and laundry service.

Best for: couples and first-time visitors who want a central base, breakfast and a recently renovated hotel.

Caveats: the whole hotel is non-smoking, and check-out is at 11:00 AM.

APA Hotel Fukuoka-Watanabedori

Why we picked it: it came second in price order, and at lookup time it was rated 3.5 stars with a review score of 8.0 from 3,673 reviews. Its Kiyokawa address is 0.9 km from the city centre, and the offer we saw included breakfast. The 186-room hotel lists a laundromat, luggage storage, express check-in and check-out, and parking.

Best for: couples and friends on a budget, solo travelers, and drivers who want breakfast included and a short trip to the centre.

Caveats: check-out is at 10:00 AM, the earliest among our picks with listed times.

THE KNOT FUKUOKA Tenjin

Why we picked it: it had the highest review score of the eight hotels at lookup time, 8.8 from 1,339 reviews. The hotel opened in 1990 and was renovated in 2026. It describes its rooms as designed to feel comfortable and home-like. It sits in Daimyo, 1.4 km from the city centre, with 206 rooms and a laundromat.

Best for: couples who care more about the room than an included breakfast.

Caveats: the offer we saw did not include breakfast, and the hotel came sixth in price order, toward the upper end of this list. It also had the fewest reviews of the eight at lookup time, and smoking is allowed in designated areas.

HOTEL MYSTAYS Fukuoka Tenjin

Why we picked it: at lookup time it was listed as 3-star and scored 8.4 from 8,851 reviews, among the top three of the eight. It came fifth in price order, and the offer we saw included breakfast. The 217-room hotel has a Tenjin address 1.3 km from the city centre. It offers luggage storage, safety deposit boxes, dry cleaning and laundry service, and on-site parking.

Best for: business travelers and couples who want a Tenjin address and breakfast from the middle of the price order.

Caveats: smoking is allowed in designated areas. The hotel opened in 2008, and our data shows no renovation year.

THE LIVELY FUKUOKA HAKATA

Why we picked it: at lookup time it scored 8.3 from 15,634 reviews, the largest number of reviews of the eight. Its Nakasu address is 0.6 km from the city centre, second-closest of the hotels we checked, and the offer we saw included breakfast. Renovated in 2019, the 224-room hotel lists concierge service, luggage storage, a laundromat and room service. It is non-smoking throughout.

Best for: couples and friends who want a central Nakasu base with a concierge desk.

Caveats: it came seventh in price order, so you pay toward the top of this list for the location. Despite its name, it is not at Hakata Station.

APA Hotel & Resort Hakata Ekihigashi

Why we picked it: at lookup time it was listed as 3-star and scored 8.4 from 9,173 reviews, among the top three of the eight. The offer we saw included breakfast, and Agoda lists it 1.4 km from the city centre.

Best for: travelers whose plans center on the Hakata side and who will accept a higher place in the price order for that location.

Caveats: it came last of the eight in price order. Our data has no street address or check-in and check-out times for it, so confirm both on the booking page.

How to choose

Among these Fukuoka budget hotels and mid-range options, the right pick depends on three things: where you will spend your days, whether you want breakfast included and how early you need to leave.

  • For an all-round value stay, choose HOTEL MYSTAYS Fukuoka Tenjin Minami.
  • To stay near the lower end of the price order, choose APA Hotel Fukuoka-Watanabedori, as long as a 10:00 AM check-out works.
  • If you will eat breakfast out and want a newly renovated room, choose THE KNOT FUKUOKA Tenjin.
  • For a Tenjin street address with breakfast, choose HOTEL MYSTAYS Fukuoka Tenjin.
  • For a Nakasu base with more hotel services, choose THE LIVELY FUKUOKA HAKATA.
  • If your trip centers on the Hakata side, look at APA Hotel & Resort Hakata Ekihigashi and confirm its location on the map.
  • If you are driving, note that APA Hotel Fukuoka-Watanabedori and both HOTEL MYSTAYS picks mention parking. Confirm availability and any charge when you book.
  • Families should check room types and how many guests each room allows, because our search was for two adults.

Check-in starts at 3:00 PM at every pick with listed times, so plan to leave your bags at the hotel if you arrive early.

Booking checklist

  • Free cancellation: check whether your rate is refundable and note the cancellation deadline. Non-refundable rates lock you in if plans change.
  • Taxes and fees: confirm whether the total includes taxes and service fees, and whether you will pay any local charges at the hotel.
  • Room type: our data did not specify a room type, so check the beds (double or twin), room size and smoking status before you pay.
  • Breakfast: if you are counting on breakfast, make sure your rate plan includes it.
  • Compare and book ahead: rates change by date, so check the live table on this page before you book.
