For the Fukuoka Marathon, stay in Tenjin if you want the simplest race morning, because that is where the race starts. Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Fukuoka and Richmond Hotel Tenjin Nishi-Dori are the Tenjin-side picks here. If you want a more upscale stay or more choice, the Hakata Station hotels below work well, from Miyako Hotel Hakata to the value-focused Hotel Forza properties. Whichever side you choose, book early.
Who this list is for
This guide is for marathon runners, people taking part in the fun run or wheelchair race, and the people coming to cheer them on. We searched for two adults sharing a room, so the list suits couples and running partners best. Families and larger groups can use it as a starting point and then search for bigger rooms.
Why Fukuoka Marathon hotels sell out
The Fukuoka Marathon is a mass-participation race with a field of 13,000 runners, and it also includes a 5.2 km fun run and a wheelchair race. Add supporters, and a large number of visitors want a central room for the same nights. Most of them search the same two areas, near the Tenjin start or around Hakata Station. Well-located hotels there fill first, and rooms still open late may come with stricter cancellation terms.
Where to stay: Tenjin or Hakata Station
The race starts in Tenjin, Fukuoka City. Staying in Tenjin keeps your trip to the start short and predictable, which matters when you’re also managing a pre-race routine and gear. For runners, Tenjin is the area to book first.
Hakata Station is the other practical base. Five of the eight hotels we shortlisted have Hakata Station addresses. That suits travelers arriving by train and gives you more options when Tenjin fills up. The trade-off is that you’ll need to plan your route to Tenjin on race morning and leave extra time.
How we picked
We used Agoda partner search data looked up on October 16, 2026, for a two-night stay for two adults, checking in on race day. From that search we shortlisted eight hotels rated 3-star or higher. We then compared review scores, the distance Agoda lists from the city center, whether the rate we saw included breakfast, and practical details such as check-in times and laundry. Rates and availability change constantly, so check the live table on this page for current prices.
Hotel notes
Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Fukuoka
Why it works: It’s the only pick with a Tenjin street address, so you’ll be in the area where the race starts. At lookup time, Agoda listed it as a 4-star hotel with a 9.0 review score from 9,934 reviews, the second-highest score in this set. The rate we saw included breakfast, and the hotel lists luggage storage, on-site parking and laundry services.
Good for: Runners who want to stay in Tenjin with services on site.
Watch for: It opened in 1988 and was renovated in 2018, so it’s older than the other picks that list an opening year. It has 160 rooms and sits toward the upper end of this list on price, so book early if it’s your choice. Check-in is from 3:00 PM.
Richmond Hotel Tenjin Nishi-Dori
Why it works: As the name suggests, it’s on the Tenjin side, and it was in the less expensive part of this list when we looked. The rate we saw included breakfast, Wi-Fi is free, and Agoda lists it 1.2 km from the city center.
Good for: Runners who want a Tenjin base on a moderate budget.
Watch for: At lookup time, it was a 3-star hotel with an 8.0 review score from 3,103 reviews, the lowest score and smallest review count in this set. Fewer property details were available than for the other picks, so confirm the exact address, room type and bed setup before booking.
Miyako Hotel Hakata
Why it works: At lookup time, it was the only 5-star hotel on this list, with a 9.2 review score from 12,520 reviews, the highest score in this set. Opened in 2019 by Miyako Hotels & Resorts, it has 208 rooms and lists room service, laundry services, luggage storage and on-site parking. Checkout is at 12:00 PM, later than most hotels here, which helps when your legs are stiff on departure morning.
Good for: Runners treating the race as a reward trip and supporters who want an upscale base.
Watch for: It’s the most expensive hotel on this list, and the rate we saw did not include breakfast. It’s on the Hakata Station side, listed 1.3 km from the city center, so plan your route to the Tenjin start.
Mitsui Garden Hotel Fukuoka Gion
Why it works: At lookup time, Agoda listed this 4-star hotel with an 8.9 review score from 19,711 reviews. It opened in 2019 and has 300 rooms, the most among the hotels here that list a room count. Agoda lists it 0.4 km from the city center. The rate we saw included breakfast, and there’s a laundromat for race kit plus express check-in and checkout.
Good for: Pairs who want a newer, mid-priced hotel by Hakata Station with laundry on hand.
Watch for: It’s on the Hakata side rather than in Tenjin. Check-in is from 3:00 PM and checkout is at 11:00 AM.
JR Kyushu Hotel Blossom Hakata Central
Why it works: At lookup time, it was a 4-star hotel with an 8.9 review score from 10,463 reviews. Run by JR Kyushu Hotels, it opened in 2013, has 247 rooms and is listed 0.8 km from the city center. Check-in starts at 2:00 PM, an hour earlier than several other picks, and the hotel lists a laundromat, luggage storage and parking. The rate we saw included breakfast.
Good for: Runners arriving by train who want to settle in earlier in the afternoon.
Watch for: It sits in the upper half of this list on price. Like the other Hakata picks, it means planning your trip to the Tenjin start.
Hotel Forza Hakataeki Chikushi-Guchi I
Why it works: It was the least expensive hotel in this set when we looked. At lookup time, it had a 3.5-star rating and an 8.6 review score from 22,532 reviews, the largest review count on this list. Opened in 2012 by FJ Hotels, it has 235 rooms, a laundromat, luggage storage and 2:00 PM check-in, and the rate we saw included breakfast.
Good for: Value-focused runners who mainly need a practical room and a place to wash their kit.
Watch for: At lookup time, its review score was the lowest of the Hakata Station picks, and Agoda lists it 1.2 km from the city center. If it’s full, check its sister property, HOTEL FORZA HAKATAEKI CHIKUSHI-GUCHI II, the second least expensive hotel here and completely smoke-free. At lookup time, the sister property was a 3-star hotel with an 8.9 review score from 10,777 reviews.
How to choose
Most searches for Fukuoka Marathon Fukuoka hotels come down to one decision: Tenjin or Hakata Station. After that, narrow it down by what matters most to you.
- Easiest race morning: Choose Tenjin. Start with Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Fukuoka, or Richmond Hotel Tenjin Nishi-Dori if you want to spend less. CROSS life Hakata Tenjin, listed 0.3 km from the city center, is also worth a look, but confirm where it is in relation to the start.
- Comfort after the race: Miyako Hotel Hakata is the upscale choice. Plan breakfast separately.
- Laundry for race kit: Mitsui Garden Hotel Fukuoka Gion, JR Kyushu Hotel Blossom Hakata Central and both Hotel Forza properties list a laundromat.
- Earlier check-in: JR Kyushu Hotel Blossom Hakata Central and the two Hotel Forza properties list 2:00 PM check-in.
- Value first: Start with the two Hotel Forza properties, the least expensive on this list.
When to book
Book as soon as your race plans are firm. This list has fewer options in Tenjin than around Hakata Station, so if being near the start matters, book Tenjin first. A free-cancellation rate lets you hold a room early and change it later.
Plan your arrival, too. Our search checked in on race day, and the hotels here that list check-in times start check-in at 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM, so don’t count on getting into your room early on race day. To wake up near the start, add the night before to your search. If you arrive on race morning, confirm luggage storage first.
