For most travellers, the Macau luxury hotels worth shortlisting are W Macau - Studio City and The Parisian Macao in Cotai, Studio City Hotel or The Venetian Macao for families, and Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau or Hotel Lisboa for a stay in central Macau. Choose Cotai if you want a large resort with entertainment and services under one roof. Choose the centre if you would rather walk straight out into the city and skip the mega-resort scale.
Who this list is for
This guide is for travellers choosing a Macau 5-star hotel before they book. That includes couples planning a short break, families who want an easy resort base and business travellers who need to stay close to the centre. It also works as a quick Macau 5-star hotels list if you only need the names and key facts side by side.
How we picked these hotels
We used Agoda partner search data, looked up on October 26, 2026, for a two-night stay from November 26 to November 28, 2026, for two adults. Every hotel in the results was rated 5 stars. We compared them on guest review scores and review volume at lookup time, as well as area, distance from the city centre, property size and age, whether the rate we saw included breakfast, free wifi, and check-in and check-out times. We also read each property’s own description for services such as airport transfers, shuttles and express check-in.
We do not quote prices here because rates change daily. The live table on this page shows current availability, so confirm the details below when you book.
Cotai or central Macau: which area fits your stay
At lookup time, the four Cotai-side picks were between 5.0 and 5.7 km from the city centre, and most are very large. The Venetian Macao has 2,904 rooms, The Parisian Macao has 2,333 and Studio City Hotel has 1,598. At that scale you get plenty of services on site, from ticket desks to shuttles and parking. You also get busier lobbies and longer walks between your room and the street.
The central picks are much closer in. Hotel Lisboa is 0.4 km from the city centre, and Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau is 0.5 km away. Grand Lapa is also far smaller, with 426 rooms, which suits travellers who want a calmer base. The trade-off is that you will need a taxi or shuttle to reach the Cotai resorts for shows and dining.
The shortlist: six 5-star hotels
W Macau - Studio City
At lookup time, W Macau - Studio City had the highest review score in our search, 9.0 from 6,557 reviews. As the name says, it is part of Studio City on the Cotai side, 5.5 km from the city centre. The rate we saw included breakfast.
Best for: couples and friends who want the Cotai hotel that guests rated highest at lookup time.
Watch out for: at lookup time, it had far fewer reviews than its big neighbours, so its score is based on fewer stays. Our data did not show free wifi for this hotel or list its check-in and check-out times, so confirm both on the booking page.
The Parisian Macao
The Parisian Macao opened in 2016 under Sands China and has 2,333 rooms. At lookup time, it scored 8.9 from 31,935 reviews, the second-highest score in our search. Its address is in the Cotai Venetian Macau area, 5.4 km from the city centre. It lists airport transfers, shuttles, complimentary parking and a ticket service.
Best for: couples and first-time visitors who want a big resort base where entertainment is easy to book.
Watch out for: the rate we saw did not include breakfast, and this is a busy property. Check-in is 3pm and check-out is 11am.
The Venetian Macao
The Venetian Macao opened in 2007, and its 2,904 rooms are the highest room count listed for any hotel here. At lookup time, it scored 8.8 from 41,778 reviews, the largest number of reviews in our search. At lookup time, it was listed 5.0 km from the city centre, and the rate we saw included breakfast. It lists airport transportation, shuttles, parking and a ticket service.
Best for: families and groups who want everything in one complex.
Watch out for: the sheer size. Allow extra time to check in and to find your way around, especially on arrival day.
Studio City Hotel
Studio City Hotel, part of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, opened in 2015 and has 1,598 rooms on Avenida de Cotai. At lookup time, it scored 8.8 from 29,509 reviews. The rate we saw included breakfast, wifi is free and parking is complimentary. The hotel can also help with tickets, tours and dining reservations.
Best for: families who want a big resort with breakfast included but smaller than the two largest Sands China properties.
Watch out for: at 5.7 km, it is the farthest hotel on this list from the city centre, so plan transport if you want to spend time in central Macau.
Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau
Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau is the calm, central choice. It opened in 1984, was renovated in 2018 and has 426 rooms on Avenida da Amizade, 0.5 km from the city centre. At lookup time, it scored 8.8 from 13,946 reviews, the same as the far larger Venetian and Studio City Hotel. The rate we saw included breakfast. The hotel offers express check-in and check-out, taxi and car hire, and complimentary parking.
Best for: couples, business travellers and anyone who wants a quieter luxury stay close to central Macau.
Watch out for: this is an older building, so check the room photos and room type description before you book. The Cotai resorts are a ride away.
Hotel Lisboa
Hotel Lisboa is the most central hotel in our search, 0.4 km from the city centre on Avenida de Lisboa. It opened in 1970 and has 1,000 rooms. Its 12pm check-out is the latest listed on this list. At lookup time, it scored 8.5 from 20,776 reviews. The hotel can arrange airport transportation before you arrive and offers shuttle services.
Best for: travellers who want to walk around central Macau and like a slower morning on departure day.
Watch out for: the rate we saw did not include breakfast. The hotel opened in 1970, so read the room type details closely.

How to choose
Start with how you want to spend your days, then narrow down:
- Guest ratings first: W Macau - Studio City and The Parisian Macao led our search at lookup time.
- Travelling with children: for the best hotel in Macau for kids, start with Studio City Hotel or The Venetian Macao. Both are big resorts with on-site services, and the rates we saw included breakfast, which keeps mornings simple.
- A quieter stay: Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau has a fraction of the rooms of the Cotai giants and is close to the centre.
- Walking the city: Hotel Lisboa is the most central pick, and its check-out is an hour later than at the other hotels with listed times.
- First visit: of the best hotels to stay in Macau on a first trip, The Parisian Macao and The Venetian Macao put the most services in one place.
We did not rank hotels on pools, spas or restaurants. If those matter to you, check the property page to see what is included with your room and whether any facilities cost extra.
Booking checklist
Before you book any Macau luxury hotel, run through these checks:
- Free cancellation: confirm whether your rate is refundable and note the exact cancellation deadline. Non-refundable rates usually cannot be changed later.
- Taxes and fees: check whether the total shown includes taxes and service charges before you pay.
- Room type: compare the bed set-up and maximum occupancy, especially with children, and check that the photos match the room you are booking.
- Breakfast: make sure breakfast is part of the specific rate you choose, not just something the hotel offers.
- Wifi: confirm whether wifi is free at W Macau - Studio City, because our data did not show it.
- Arrival timing: check-in is 3pm at every hotel here that listed times. If you land early, ask about early check-in or use the hotel’s luggage storage.
- Airport transfers: several hotels list transfer or shuttle services, so check the terms when you book.
