For the Taipei Marathon, stay in a central Taipei hotel with an easy route to the start at Taipei City Hall Plaza in Xinyi District, because the race begins at 6:30 a.m. Runners who want a calm night before the race should look first at MGH Mitsui Garden Hotel Taipei Zhongxiao or Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Taipei Ximen. Travelers watching their budget should compare Caesar Metro Taipei and Hotel Midtown Richardson.
Who this list is for
This guide is for runners entered in the Taipei Marathon and for the friends and family coming to cheer them on. It also suits anyone in the city that weekend who would rather book a reliable hotel than take whatever is left. Every hotel on the list is 4-star or higher, so this guide looks past basic comfort to what matters for a race: location, breakfast, check-in times and an easy trip on race morning. If you have been searching Taipei Marathon Taipei hotels and found too many options, this shortlist narrows them down. We searched for two adults, so couples and pairs of runners can use it as it is. Families and groups should treat it as a starting point and check room capacity carefully.
How we picked
We built this shortlist from Agoda partner search data looked up on October 26, 2026. The search was for a two-night stay for two adults, checking in on race day, and we narrowed the results to eight Taipei hotels. We compared them on guest reviews, listed distance from the city center, whether breakfast was included in the rate we saw, number of rooms, check-in and check-out times, and how they ranked against each other on price. We do not quote prices in this article. The live table on this page shows current rates, which will change as race weekend gets closer.
Why Taipei Marathon hotels sell out
On marathon weekends, hotel rooms fill up for several reasons at once. Runners often arrive a day early to rest and sort out race logistics, and supporters travel with them. Nearly everyone wants a short, predictable trip to the start in the early morning. With a 6:30 a.m. start, staying far away means a very early alarm, so central hotels with good transport links tend to book up first. Regular visitors to Taipei are booking the same rooms, so anyone who books late has to choose from what is left.
Where to stay: Xinyi District and the City Hall start
The race starts from the plaza in front of Taipei City Hall in Xinyi District, and Taipei City Government runs the event. That makes Xinyi District the obvious area for runners who want the shortest trip on race morning. We could not confirm a Xinyi District address for any hotel on this shortlist, so the practical question is how easily you can get from each one to City Hall. Before you book, map the route from the hotel to the start and check when public transport starts running on race morning. Leave plenty of extra time for crowds around the start area.
The shortlist
MGH Mitsui Garden Hotel Taipei Zhongxiao
Why: It was the hotel closest to the city center in our search, listed 1.2 km away, and it opened in 2020. Breakfast was included in the rate we checked. The hotel also offers luggage storage, which helps if you arrive before the 3:00 PM check-in. At lookup time it was a 4-star hotel with a review score of 9.1.
Best for: Runners who want a central, modern base and a predictable routine.
Caveat: It was near the top of this shortlist on price. With 287 rooms it is mid-sized, so rooms may sell out early.
Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Taipei Ximen
Why: At lookup time it was a 4-star hotel with a review score of 9.2, the highest on our shortlist. It is listed 1.5 km from the city center, and breakfast was included in the rate we checked.
Best for: Couples and supporters who put guest reviews first and want to explore the city after the finish.
Caveat: It was the most expensive of the eight hotels we compared. We also have fewer details on this property, so confirm check-in times, luggage storage and breakfast hours with the hotel.
Hotel Metropolitan Premier Taipei
Why: At lookup time it was a 5-star hotel with a review score of 9.1. It is listed 1.9 km from the city center, and breakfast was included in the rate we checked.
Best for: Travelers who want a higher-class hotel to rest and recover after the race.
Caveat: It was one of the more expensive hotels on this shortlist, and we have few details on the property. Check room types and check-in times before you book.
Cityinn Hotel Plus Fuxing N.Rd. Branch
Why: At lookup time this 4-star hotel had a review score of 9.1, and it was in the middle of our price order. It is listed 2.6 km from the city center and has 120 rooms. The front desk offers luggage storage and safety deposit boxes.
Best for: Pairs who want a well-reviewed, smaller hotel and are happy to sort out their own breakfast.
Caveat: Breakfast was not included in the rate we checked, so plan your pre-race meal ahead of time.
Caesar Metro Taipei
Why: It came first in our price order, making it the most affordable of the eight when we looked. It is a large hotel with 745 rooms, listed 2.8 km from the city center, and airport transfers can be booked before arrival. At lookup time it was a 5-star hotel with a review score of 8.6.
Best for: Runners looking for value, and groups who need a big hotel with more rooms available.
Caveat: Breakfast was not included in the rate we checked, and its review score at lookup time was below the leaders on this list.
Hotel Midtown Richardson
Why: It came second in our price order, so it was one of the more affordable picks, and breakfast was included in the rate we checked. It is listed 1.5 km from the city center. It also has a laundromat and laundry service, which is handy for washing race kit.
Best for: Runners on a budget who still want breakfast and a fairly central location.
Caveat: At lookup time it was a 4-star hotel with a review score of 8.1, the lowest on this shortlist. Check-out is at 11:00 AM.
How to choose
Start with the trip on race morning. If a short, simple journey to Taipei City Hall Plaza matters most, look first at the hotels listed closest to the city center. These are MGH Mitsui Garden Hotel Taipei Zhongxiao, Hotel Midtown Richardson and Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Taipei Ximen. Then check the actual route to Xinyi District.
Next, decide how much hotel breakfast matters to you. With a 6:30 a.m. start, the breakfast room may not be open before you leave, so an included breakfast may be more useful on the other mornings of your stay. If you need an early meal, ask the hotel about early or takeaway breakfast.
Then weigh guest reviews against price. At lookup time, Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Taipei Ximen, MGH Mitsui Garden Hotel Taipei Zhongxiao, Cityinn Hotel Plus Fuxing N.Rd. Branch and Hotel Metropolitan Premier Taipei had the strongest reviews. Caesar Metro Taipei and Hotel Midtown Richardson were at the more affordable end.
If the central options are full, Caesar Park Hotel Banqiao and HOTEL CHAM CHAM - Taipei also came up in our search. Both included breakfast in the rate we checked, and both are listed 7.2 km from the city center. Runners should treat them as a backup and check the route to the start before booking.
When to book
Book as soon as your race plans are firm, and choose a rate with free cancellation so you can book a room now and change plans later. Our search checked in on race day, but most runners will want to add the night before so they wake up near the start. Supporters who only need to reach the course later in the morning can be more flexible about location. Check the live table on this page now and then, since availability changes as the race gets closer.
Race-weekend booking checklist
- Free cancellation: Confirm the cancellation deadline and keep a note of it.
- Taxes and fees: Check whether the rate shown includes taxes and service charges before comparing hotels.
- Room type: Make sure the room fits two adults and has the beds you want. Separate beds help if one of you needs a very early alarm.
- Night before the race: Book it if you are running, so you do not have to travel on race morning.
- Check-in and luggage: Every hotel that lists its check-in time has a 3:00 PM check-in, so confirm luggage storage if you arrive early.
- Breakfast timing: Ask when breakfast opens and whether you can take it to go.
- Route to the start: Map the trip to Taipei City Hall Plaza and plan to arrive well before 6:30 a.m.
- Late check-out: If your stay ends on race day, ask about late check-out so you can shower and rest after the finish.
